Happy New Year! Miss P is so excited to be back in Room 6 this year with the "Super Sixes!" We have a bit of a super hero/heroine theme this year, so go ahead and take a look our new class site set up. This is where we will go every day for our learning.
We were a Year 3/4 class at Waitohu School. Have a look and see what were learning in our class.

Orienteering
This week in Room 6 we have been learning about position and direction. We have had a go at reading and creating maps of our school and we even set our own course for a classmate to complete. On Thursday, Miss P set up a big orienteering course for the whole class to complete in pairs. We had to turn and thumb our map, find the triangle to know where to start, collect 15 letters from the different controls around the school and then find the finish. Once we had completed the course, we then had to arrange our letters and find out what they spelled. It took a while, but the word was CONGRATULATIONS!

Room 10 visits Room 6
Whaea Delia has been sick! She has lost her voice, which isn't very good when you're a teacher. Room 6 have been lucky to have Piper, Keeana, Edith and Pearl come to visit because there have been no relievers! Lucky Room 6!

Fun with Bee Bots
Kia Ora,
In Room 6 we have been reading 'The Wild Robot' by Peter Brown as one of our Chapter Chat novels. Whaea Kirstin and Miss P decided that it would be a fantastic opportunity for our Year 3/4/5 kids to have a go at coding online and to learn all about algorithms. Because Room 5 and 6 were so amazing with their coding, we went one step further and purchased real life robots! The learning has been rich, much patience has been needed and the cooperative working and discussion has been fantastic. Bee bots are soooooo much fun!

Music with Fran Term 3
3.09.20
Today we started Music in the hall with Fran. Some of us got to play the glockenspiel, the tambourines and the giro. Oscar got two sticks that when you hit them with a cupped hand, they made a really awesome sound. We got to play "We Will Rock You." Next week we get to have a go on the violins. We can't wait!
